IMAGES TO BE REPLACED

Rehabilitation & Landscape Design For Landholdings Such As Derelict Plantations

We provide landscape design consulting services to private landowners seeking to rehabilitate plantations, diversify their income streams, and restore native forest and watershed health.

Community Based Watershed Rehabilitation

Climate change is creating unpredictable conditions for farming in Sri Lanka – especially where rainfall is concerned.  NSRC has approached this challenge through surface water storage and planting native and crop-producing trees to raise groundwater levels.

Small Farmer Livelihood Enhancement & Food Security Through Climate Adaptation & Regenerative Agriculture

NSRC has worked with hundreds of farmers in different parts of Sri Lanka to diversify income streams and ensure greater nutritional security through regenerative agriculture techniques.

Training & Education For Extension Officers

NSRC has trained local extension officers for every project we work on as well as providing formal lectures and field training for government staff.  Our Handbook for Regenerative Agriculture (Melvani 2012)  (livelink here) published in Sinhala, Tamil and English was distributed by the Sri Lanka Water Supply and Drainage Board and Irrigation Department to thousands of farmers across the country.

Field Research Opportunities For Academic Researchers & Students

We seek to document and assess the results of our forest and watershed conservation, regenerative agriculture, and habitat enhancement for biodiversity actions.  Questions related to water quality, soils, vegetation, farmer livelihoods, wildlife presence or absence and landscape level change that might interest soil scientists, hydrologists, GIS specialists, sociologists, botanists, foresters, economists, wildlife biologists abound.  We partner with researchers and students to carry out short and longer term research studies.
